This course offers a blended, online and in-class certification experience extending our Level 1 first aid and CPR training to include an additional half-day of comprehensive scene and trauma management for handling major emergencies in and out of the home and workplace. Only for private groups by arrangement.
What you’ll gain
In this one-and-a-half-day course, our in-depth lessons and scenario-based activities will give you:
- training in our Level 1 basic first aid and CPR plus the additional skills and confidence to handle major injuries, multiple casualties, and more scene-specific, emergency first aid
- a take-home, personal manikin, a St John First Aid Handbook, and a DVD so that you can practice CPR in your own time and share your knowledge with your colleagues, friends, and family (scheduled courses only)
- a First Aid Level 2 certificate valid for 2 years upon successful completion

Prerequisites and restrictions
In order to offer this comprehensive first aid training opportunity, we require that:
- you are able to physically demonstrate CPR on the floor in a simulated emergency scenario
Meets the qualification requirement for a workplace first-aider that’s good for 2 years
Online lessons for this blended online training can be completed within 4 hours, on average, but take your time as this online material is not repeated in-class
Finally, after your online lessons are completed, the in-class practical assessment will only take another 8 hours, on average
Alternatively, take our First Aid Refresher course within 2 years of completing this course for a time and cost saving re-certification
This course is taught according to the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) unit standards 6401, 6402, and 6400
